This is a very beautiful glass indeed, to the collector this represents a great bargain. Although it is a late example it retains many of the appeals of early facon de venise glassware. The internal wyrthen moulding of the bowl refracts light beautifully, the finely crafted stem with an inverted baluster of similar refractive quality, and the low conical foot with its extremely narrow fold, all combine to lend the piece the elegance and balance that makes venetian glassware so adored. At a fraction of the price of the 16th and 17th century originals
