Additional Information : This seal. an ‘R’ surmounted by a ducal coronet. may be connected to the Rolle of Stevenstone family. However. it is more likely to be the seal of John Henry Manners. the 5th Duke of Rutland. Manners was a colonel in the Leicestershire militia and a trustee of the British museum. He lived in Belvoir Castle on its 30.000 acre estate until he died in 1857 at the age of 79. Part of the castle is home to his descendants to this day. According to Antique sealed bottles by David Burton. only two of these bottles have previously been accounted for. One is currently in a private collection. the other was listed as part of a private collection. however the present whereabouts is unknown. This may well be a third. a vintage bottle with some history to convey
