Frederick Rhead was appointed the art director of Wileman and Co in 1896 and introduced his Intarsio (inlaid) designs in 1901 prior to leaving the factory in 1905 with the earliest pattern number being 3450
The printed trademark featuring the Wileman monogram below ‘The Foley’and above ‘Intarsio’. England and Copyright was in use until 1910 and then replaced in 1911 by ‘Shelley Late Foley’ and ‘Shelley’ only in 1923. For a further discussion of Frederick Rhead’s contribution
