Decoration : Central mosaic of a child with small dog and bird. The popular theory that this is Edward VII is, in our view, spurious. Above is a foliate mosaic. Bordered by a distinctive piece of banding with interlocking foliage. Four corners with geometric designs. Interior with velvet lined writing slop. pen tray (three pens included) and two iinkwells. Foliate tesslated banding to interior.
Size : 25.5cm depth. 30.6cm width. 7.8cm height
Condition : Mosaics to cover are rubbed in places . Interior excellent other than wear and split to velvet lining and chipping to the inkwells. The split is in line with the hinge of the slope. Working lock and key.
Restoration : The covers to the inkwells are replacements.
Weight : 1730 grams
The banding to the borders of the cover are reminiscent of Talbot designs. however. we have not been able to find an exact match.
