Heading : Tunbridge ware box designed by Thomas Barton (probably for Nye)

Origin : Tunbridge wells, Kent
Decoration : Hexagonal form with two triangular compartments either side of the lidded central compartment. Central floral mosaic with geometric border and dentil stringing. Side panels with geometric decoration also with dentil stringin.
Size : 10.4cm x 17.2cm, 4.3cm height
Condition : Good – previous examples we have seen have had pin cushions in the triangular voids which have been removed at some point. Otherwise light wear with age.
Restoration : As mentioned pin cushions have been removed to create the voids.
Weight : 112 grams
Certainly the design is by Thomas Barton – we suspect that this was made during the latter days of his role as lead designer for Edmund Nye.
