Decoration : Central mosaic of Tonbridge castle with dentil stringing. Border with stylised floral banding and dentil stringing. Inteiror with lift out tray with three compartments and green paper lining.
Size :28.2cm x 20.2cm, 11cm height
Condition : Very good – minor wear only
Restoration : The tray is a replacement
Weight : 1150 grams
This work box was most likely made by either Abraham Morris of Brighton or George Wise of Tonbridge. Howard Rockley in Topographical Tunbridge Ware states that, while there is an example labelled for Morris “whether he was the manufacturer is open to debate. It may well have been the work of George Wise of Tonbridge.”
