Decoration : Central floral mosaic with foliate banding and dentil stringing. Side panels decorated with foliate mosaic and dentil stringing and mother of pearl escutcheon. Benjamin Whittaker label to base.
Size : 23.7cm x 18.6xm, 10.7cm height
Condition : Some fine cracks to cover and a little lifting, front right corner of cover with small loss. Wear to lining.

Weight : 673 grams
Benjamin Whittaker was only active as a Tunbridge ware manufacturer for four years and very little is known about him. It is likey that he bought the blocks from a Tunbridge Wells based maker, quite possibly Nye.
