Note: the English version – rather confusingly – has two fill marks – one incised to the collar which equates to 125ml. and a v-cut one around the neck at 150ml – these equate to five sixths and one full English gill respectively. The Scottish version fills to just over 100ml. or one full Scottish gill. so this pair perfectly illustrate the different capacities of the same named measure as used north and south of the border.
