Description
We have a rare Georgian Gin or Cordial Opaque Twist Glass with a thick firing foot which dates to 1760.
Although we say Gin/Cordial our thoughts are is that it was probably for Cordial rather than a Gin Glass. as Gin was very much the poor man’s drink in 1760 and in contrast Opaque Twists were not poor men’s glasses.
This example is 3 7/8 inches tall with a very small bowl measuring just 1 1/2 inches with a firing foot 2 3/8th in diameter.
The stem is composed of a pair of multi ply corkscrews with 2 threads entwined.
In perfect untouched condition showing only expected wear for its age.
We have shown the glass next to a standard size Opaque Twist Firing Glass to give you some idea of its proportions.
