Condition : Very good – no chips or cracks; three large bubble inclusions to the bowl and two smaller blobs of silicate. along with further smaller instances of the same – also some inclusions to the stem and foot; the inside of the foot has been crudely inscribed with some unintelligible script

Note : It may be the case that glasses of this nature are sometimes imagined to be early champagne coupes. but the simple expedient of trying to drink anything from a bowl with such a broad. everted rim will swiftly – and messily – reveal that this is not the intended use (give it a try with red wine if you really want to maximise the gravity of the consequential spillage and staining). Rather it would have been used as a serving vessel for comfits. candies fruits or similar comestibles – far more elegant !
