Geta was joint Roman emperor with his father Septimius Severus and older brother Caracalla from 209 who had held the title since 198. When Septimus Severus died in York in 211 he had intended for his sons to rule together. Power-sharing for the siblings was the cause of great division. they did not communicate at all on their journey from Britain to Rome and Geta was murdered in December of that year.
