Edward was the only legitimate son of Henry VIII and Jane Seymour. He came to the throne in 1547 but for the first few years of his reign he used the coins of his father or with his image on them and then eventually added those with his own image. The silver used had been debased by his father and this this trend was continued during Edward’s short reign. so much so. that there are very few high grade coins. He died in 1553. possibly of tuberculosis.
