The handle is made from a single piece of rope twist that has a loop upper terminal. A beautiful ewer that demands to be used. The oenochoe was first exhibited at the Great Exhibition of 1851. This specific footed variant and with a rope twist handle was exhibited at the London Exposition of 1862.
