Bowl : Ogee with engraved single closed rose bud and bird in flight
Stem : A multi ply spiral band outside a multi ply core
Foot : Conical
Pontil : Snapped
Glass Type : Lead 
Size :  14 cm height. 4.6 cm diameter bowl. 7.2 cm diameter foot 
Condition : A 2mm x 1mm flake chip on the underside of the foot
Restoration : None 
Weight:  133 grams 

It could be argued that the engraving was undertaken after the death of the James Stuart in Rome in 1766. It could also be argued that this was engraved after the death of Charles Stuart in 1788 also in Rome. We would contend that this is nothing more than a decorative theme despite the tenuous links to the Jacobite cause. If either were true then under heraldic rules the closed bud would always be facing to the right. that is unless the engraved made an error. but this is just speculation.

Single bud and open rose glasses are a different story.
