This type of penannular brooch – also known as an omega brooch – was worn on the shoulder or chest to close a cloak. The delicate nature of this brooch may indicate that it was worn by a well to do woman rather than as male attire and so probably on the shoulder. Their art work and everyday items were greatly influenced by their travels, many cultures were absorbed such as those of Finland and Russia.
